Towers above, enemies in the trench

Ballistas on grassy cliffs fire down into a trench as enemy soldiers and trolls push through it; warriors clash with a troll on open ground. Video: 6side Studio press kit

In this clip, ballistas stand on grassy cliffs and fire down into a trench while a column of enemy soldiers and large trolls pushes along it. The shot then cuts to a group of warriors fighting a troll on open ground.

The Steam page describes this as fighting on two fronts: towers and troops hold off waves that surge through the trenches, while heroes and warriors fight for islands and enemy strongholds. In a Steam discussion about the tutorial, a developer put the split more directly: units fight other island units, and towers handle trench enemies. Read the developer's reply.

Islands joined by bridges

The camera pans across grassy islands linked by wooden bridges over lava-cracked ground, then cuts to a fight on an island and a dark enemy structure. Video: 6side Studio press kit

The camera pans across a cluster of grassy islands joined by wooden bridges, with glowing, lava-cracked ground between them. Later shots show a fight on one island and a dark enemy structure.

According to the Steam store description, each island you capture becomes a foothold where you can raise towers, rally warriors, claim resources and build an economy. Taking an island is a commitment, so it helps to know what it adds before you attack.

Building on a hex grid

A white hex grid lights up over a grassy island, and wooden buildings appear one tile at a time.

The demo's economy runs on four resources: Wood, Food, Iron and Stone. When a purchase is blocked, the useful question is which material, or which piece of island space, is missing.

Ballistas on the cliffs, and a troll

A ballista goes up on a cliff tile above a lava trench, then warriors fight a large troll marked with a skull icon. Video: 6side Studio press kit

A tile on a cliff edge is highlighted and a ballista is built on it, above a trench crossed by glowing cracks. Later, warriors surround a large troll with a skull icon over its head, and the clip ends on a base gathered around a tall, glowing blue stone.

The Forgotten Powers announcement recommends Ballistas and Eyodins for the Troll Rider, the demo's first fortress encounter. Read the announcement. The clip does not identify its troll as the Troll Rider, and it is not a tested setup.

Runestones between battles

The Steam description says ancient runestones unlock upgrades for towers, warriors and the economy, and that each run reshapes your strategy. In the demo, permanent Runes spending in the skill tree and Runestone choices during a run are different things, and some skill-tree purchases add options rather than an immediate bonus.
